First, install the Yahoo! Widgets platform. The installation can be downloaded for free at http://widgets.yahoo.com.
Once the Yahoo! Widgets platform has been downloaded, individual widgets can added for free at http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery.

Widgets are free to download. You may download as many as you wish from over 4,000 widgets currently available.

How do I know if a Widget I am using has been updated?
When a publisher updates a widget, a message is displayed to all users who have downloaded the widget, asking them if they wish to update their widget. Users can then click on the icon allowing the Yahoo! Widget Platform to download and install the updated widget.
